JOHN KAPLAN
I have a really difficult time giving myself a job title, because as a small business owner I’m a part of all aspects of the job. When I work directly with clients I’m a producer. I work with them to develop the concept, budget, plan, write, film, edit and deliver the video. I fill many roles. However, when I work as a subcontractor for another media agency my role is usually limited to being an editor. I join their team of producers, creative directors, writers, etc. and focus my attention on a specific task. Regardless of what you call it, I create videos.

I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors of Science in Visual Communication Technology. I know that sounds strange, but what it means is that I learned a lot about both the creative and the technical aspects of visual media. I get to be a little bit artsy and a little bit of a computer geek. That education has become invaluable for our business and how we work with our clients.

All in all, I’m a storyteller at heart and I really love using video to deliver that story.

MEREDITH KAPLAN
I have worked as a graphic designer for the past five years in both a corporate environment and as a subcontractor. My two years spent in the corporate world provided me with the ability to work for and with other people on my team. Since then, I’ve worked for myself and have continued to hone my communication skills and project management style. My organizational skills keep me afloat on those large-scale projects that require constant back and forth communication and many proofs.

My favorite things to design are nitty-gritty pieces with 44+ pages where attention to detail is key. The more type and hierarchies needed, the better. I’ve worked a lot with smaller non-profits where my design expertise has proved invaluable to their marketing needs, big and small.

I graduated with a BFA from University of Michigan’s School of Art & Design with a concentration in graphic design. Prior to attending Michigan, I studied fine art at DePaul University which led to my interest in graphic design.
